The Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) released its Women's Volleyball Preseason Poll today. The Saints find themselves slated for sixth place to start the season after finishing eighth in 2016. Last year the Saints were 7-9 in league play and 17-14 overall. Coach Rick Schroeder will look to upperclassman Maddie Ingraham (SO/Grand Rapids, Michigan) (2016 WHAC All-Freshman Team), Stephanie Chenlo (JR/Jenison, Michigan), Marisa Spetoskey (JR/Byron Center, Michigan), and Karly Morris (SO/Clarksville, Michigan) to spearhead the 2017 attack. Coach Schroeder also brought in plenty of size and talent, as nine new Saints will look to help push the Saints into the upper echelon of the WHAC standings.
Coach Rick Schroeder stated, "The 2017 season will be an exciting year for the Saints. With nine new faces and not a single senior on the roster, the Saints look to grow throughout the season and find our way into the Conference Tournament. I expect that we will surprise a few teams along the way, but not without some growing pains on our end."
Aquinas will open play on August 16th with a home date with Keiser University. The Seahawks, who hail from West Palm Beach, Florida, finished the 2016 season with a 21-8 record. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center. If you cannot make it to Coach Bo Court, you can still catch the contest on the AQ Sports Network.
The Golden Eagles of Cornerstone held the top spot in the pool, while defending the defending WHAC champs, Lourdes University, checked in at #2. Click here to see the complete preseason poll.
