Sarah MacLachlan, daughter of Terri and Mark MacLachlan, has signed her national letter of intent to continue her running career as a Saint. MacLachlan, who preps at Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School, had a breakout senior season and led the Cougars to a berth at the DII State Cross Country Championships.
MacLachlan, an Academic All State honoree and an Honor Roll member, was crowned individual champion in the OK Blue this fall and named Team MVP. Sarah, an OK Blue All Conference selection, placed 37th at the 2016 State Meet and holds a personal bests of 19:36 on the cross course. MacLachlan stated, "I chose Aquinas College because of the importance they place on the student, the community, and the Catholic faith." Sarah has three siblings named Zach, Anna, and CJ and she plans on studying Accounting at Aquinas College. Coach Mike Wojciakowski commented, "I think Sarah is just starting to scratch the surface on how good of runner she could be. She has been coached by AQ alumni, Jackson Fox, Jessica Malecki, and Megan Skinner; so she has a taste of what we do here at Aquinas. I am looking forward to assisting Sarah in her continuing development as a collegiate athlete." Sarah rejoins former Cougars cross country and track & field athletes Leanne McWain (JR/Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Kevin Brown at Aquinas College.
